Dominic Elsworth is the founder of Hargreaves Elsworth, and Head of Practice. He is a Chartered Patent Agent, Trade Mark Agent, European Patent Attorney and European Trade Mark Attorney. He has experience working in the European Patent Office, private practice and in industry, which allows him to give his clients sound practical advice.

Professional Qualifications: Registered Patent Agent (1997), European Patent Attorney (1996), European Trade Mark Attorney (1998).

Post-graduate Qualifications: MSc in the Management of Intellectual Property from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London (1995).
Technical Qualifications: First degree from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in agricultural engineering, specializing in mechanical engineering, food processing and soil mechanics.

Open University first degree level examinations in electronics.

Professional Experience: Five years as an Examiner at the European Patent Office, working in the fields of food processing, agricultural machinery, packaging, household products, fasteners etc.

Three years as a technical assistant and assistant patent attorney in private practice handling a full range of intellectual property matters. Technical areas covered included: medical devices, computer software, military equipment, agricultural machinery, and packaging.

Three years as the manager of AGCO Corporation’s in-house intellectual property department, providing a full range of intellectual property services for the companies of the group located around the world.
